Meet Richard and Helen from Clevedon Buffalo Cheese
Pioneers of buffalo farming in NZ, Richard and Helen Dorresteyn imported a herd of 16 riverine water buffalo in 2007 when they couldn’t find fresh buffalo milk in NZ to make their own cheese to sell at market. This was the early start of Clevedon Buffalo Cheese.
Working as a family-run business, now with a herd of 200 top-quality buffalo, and managing the process from farm to table, the farm can be found south of Auckland on the shores of the Hauraki Gulf. With an amazing range of cheese including mozzarella, bocconcini, & marinated, they have won multiple awards and gold medals at New Zealand’s national cheese and artisan awards.
It is a pleasure for us at The Cheese Wheel to bring you Clevedon Buffalo’s cheese via our monthly cheese boxes.
