Whitehorse Cheese came about like so many other cheesemakers in New Zealand when two very talented people decided to collaborate.

Martyn has over 30 years of experience in the food industry as a Food Technologist, Microbiologist, and skilled Cheesemaker. Lynne, a savvy businesswoman with 25 years of experience, is a natural entrepreneur with lots of flair. They got together to buy a property in Waimate in bucolic south Canterbury. They named their new venture after the iconic White Horse on the Hunter Hills overlooking the town, apropos given it was constructed in the 1960s to celebrate the regions rich agricultural history.

At Whitehorse Cheese, Martyn and Lynne are always dreaming up new ways to excite your palate and turn every cheese purchase into a memorable experience. They have quickly developed a wide range of styles, including some made with goat’s milk.
